A Blog About Blogging…
Wednesday, Feb 25, 2009, 1:12 am | In ContentIt started with a Facebook status conversation with my good friend Katy… and ended up with an examination of the past six years of my life.

You see, I used to use a little blog site called Xanga. I eventually “matured” to the use of Livejournal, before moving on to Vox, then Tumblr, then finally Wordpress for my own website, which is where I am today. Going back and reading blog posts from 2003 was a little surreal. I felt like I was reading a diary I had written when I was 11.
In a way, the past six years of my life is all online. I have the ability to look back and read my thoughts from a particular day, and most of the things I blogged about I wouldn’t have even remembered had it not been for the blog itself.
To see the different stages of my life just sitting there on the Internet, for all to see… well, it was a little frightening. With the amount of people who use the Internet every day, I wonder how many people actually read one post? Three posts? Every blog post I’d ever written?
And on one level, I wonder what those people thought about the blog posts. About me, for that matter. Did they read it and think I was a total theatre geek? A vain human being? A spaz with very poor typing skills? What point in my life were these people reading from? And were their assumptions about me valid from just one post?
So I figured, “Well, I could just delete all these old posts from sites I never use anymore. Or just delete the ones that make me sound _______” (insert adjective here). But what would be the good in that? I mean, I still blog. Six years from now, will I want to delete this blog post?
On the other hand, the ability to share my thoughts with a very large amount of people is exhilarating. You blog, and it’s available to read whenever you’d like, for as long as you’d like, by people all over the world. It’s about sharing. Conversing. Debating. And If I really cared who was reading what I wrote, I wouldn’t be as “into” social media as I am? Would I really want to give up all the fun of blogging just because I’ve changed over the past six years?
I don’t think so.

New Design!! And Shit!!
Saturday, Nov 15, 2008, 11:46 pm | In ContentNew site design by my wonderful boyfriend/code monkey/designer extraordinaire . We thought matching designs would be cute and couple-y. *insert aww here*
I’ve realized lately that my neglect of , , and other such Vlogging and Video sites has been unacceptable. My last Viddler post was September 12th… And we’re now half way through November. Therefore, my Thanksgiving Resolution (yes, I have those) is to start making more videos again.
However, as I sat down at It’s A Grind for coffee on this obscenely cold night with Jake, the Amanda Thought Bakery was fresh out of ideas. The following conversation ensued:
Me: “I just don’t have any ideas. I feel like I have to keep one up-ing my videos so shit doesn’t get boring.”
Jake: “It’s not about one up-ing yourself. For you, right now, It’s about quantity, not quality. Think about it. It’d be pointless to make ten 100% quality videos, one every month. It’s about making dozen and dozen of 50%, 60% quality videos AND one 100% quality video a month. The more you have, the more to watch.”
Me: “But… but… why make shitty videos?”
Jake: “It’s not about shitty videos, it’s about lots of decent videos. And a few GREAT videos.”
Me: “But I don’t even know what to make anymore. What the hell do I have to talk about.”
Jake: “Well, what if you did an online Acting Class?”
Me: “…Um…. excuse me?”
Jake: “C’mon, think about it. Acting is something you love. You’ve got experience. No one’s really doing anything like that in web form.”
Me: “Yeah, but that’d make me seem egotistical. It’s too subjective of a… subject, I guess.”
Jake: “Okay… How about a How-To show?”
Me: “On what? What the HELL do I know how to How-To?”
Jake: “How-To Web Content?”
And so… an idea was born. I don’t want to go into too much detail just yet, seeing as how, well, they’re just ideas.
But it’s happening. It’s all happening.
A Very Scary Guilty Pleasure
Thursday, Nov 6, 2008, 2:28 am | In musicSo, I’m not one to be into extremely pop-y music. Granted, I went through a 6th grade phase of liking N SYNC, and I always unabashedly dance around like a stripper to Britney Spears, especially in the clubs. And I do, on occasion, rock out to some good ol’ Madonna.
However, I just found Hilary Duff’s new video for “Reach Out”, a remixed, re-done version of Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus”… and I gotta tell you, it’s my new guilty pleasure.
And I must have missed the “Hilary Duff has become a hot chick” Us Weekly.
So, here’s the video. Enjoy!
Oh, and keep this little secret between us…
For the first time, I love this country.
